Shoreline Wildcats Open Senior Softball East Regional With Two Wins

The girls defeated teams from Worcester and Rhode Island on their quest for a return trip to the Little League Senior Softball World Series.

WORCESTER, MA – The Lyme-Old Lyme Senior Softball All-Stars opened East Regional play Friday with a pair of victories as they pursue a return trip to the Little League Senior Softball World Series.

Connecticut’s representative, also known as the Shoreline Wildcats, defeated host Worcester 11-2 before topping Tiverton, R.I., 11-8.

Results provided by the team show Wildcats pitcher Sawyer Barreto recorded 14 strikeouts as the team rolled past Worcester. Against Rhode Island, Avery Goiangos started in the circle and Bella Franklin earned the save as Connecticut held on for the win.

The Wildcats will continue regional play Saturday when they face the Massachusetts state champions at 3:30 p.m. The Massachusetts team is also from Worcester but is a different squad than the host team the Wildcats defeated in Friday’s opening game.

The regional tournament moves into elimination rounds Monday. The semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday, with the championship game set for Wednesday.

The tournament champion will advance to the 2026 Little League Senior Softball World Series.

The Wildcats are seeking a return trip to the Senior Softball World Series after reaching the international tournament last summer.
