LYME/OLD LYME, CT – Lyme-Old Lyme Schools have announced the appointment of Andrea Montovani as the next assistant principal at Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School and principal of Center School.

The district in a Friday news release said Montovani will begin her new position on July 1, taking the place of Noah Ventola as he becomes principal of Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School. Departing middle school principal Mark Ambruso will serve as director of RiverTech at Goodwin University, the state’s first technical magnet school.

Montovani is currently assistant principal at Memorial Elementary School in East Hampton, a position she has held since 2021. She is responsible for evaluating staff, supporting professional development, overseeing student support systems and fostering a positive school climate.

Prior to becoming an administrator, she served as a reading specialist, instructional coach, literacy media technology specialist and classroom teacher at East Hartford Public Schools.

Montovani has a sixth-year certificate in educational leadership from Central Connecticut State University, a teaching certification in elementary education from Sacred Heart University and a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies from the University of Connecticut. She lives in Niantic with her family.

Superintendent of Schools Ian Neviaser said her experience at the elementary and middle school levels make her uniquely qualified to take on the shared leadership role.

Center School, which houses 91 pre-kindergarten students, consists of a full-day, universal preschool program for 4-year-olds and a half-day program for 3-year-olds.

“Throughout the interview process Mrs. Montovani demonstrated a deep commitment to students, strong instructional leadership skills and a collaborative approach to working with staff and families,” he said.
