5 Things Not to Miss at Sunday’s Make Music Old Lyme Event
Stroll Lyme Street for an evening of free live music, with stops ranging from bluegrass and folk to rock and swing – plus a participatory jam session.

Five Things Not to Miss
1. The Summer Solstice Connection
Make Music Old Lyme takes place on June 21 as part of the worldwide Make Music Day celebration. Launched in France in 1982, the international music festival is open to all who would like to participate, and takes place annually in over 2,000 cities globally on the summer solstice.
2. A Musical Walk Through Historic Lyme Street
Make Music Old Lyme isn’t just a show … it’s a journey. Wander from lawn to lawn as you discover different styles of music along one of Connecticut’s most historic streets, from the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme to Nightingale’s.
3. The New Pickin’ Party
Unlike the scheduled performances, the Pickin’ Party is participatory. Organizers are inviting attendees to bring a string instrument – or their voice – to join a rotating jam session led by Rodney Brown. Players and singers of all skill levels are welcome.
4. Sunny Train Before the Stroll
Families with younger children may want to arrive early for the 4 p.m. Sunny Train concert behind the Lymes’ Youth Service Bureau. It’s designed for kids and serves as a lead-in to the evening’s music stroll.
5. Music, Food and Community in One Place
Grab a bite to eat hot off the Lions Club grill at Center School or let the kids participate in activities on the lawn of the historical society in between musical venues. You can do it all without ever leaving Lyme Street.
