Lyme Public Hall to Host Talk on Quiet-Water Paddling, May 13
Alex and Jerelyn Wilson will discuss local paddling spots like Whalebone Creek and Selden Neck as part of their talk on canoeing and kayaking across the Northeast.

LYME, CT – On May 13 at 7 p.m., Lyme Public Hall will host a talk by Alex and Jerelyn Wilson on quiet-water canoeing and kayaking.
Alex Wilson is the co-author of four Appalachian Mountain Club guides, including including a recently released 4th edition guide to Southern New England covering Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
In the talk, titled “Canoeing Local Waters and Other Adventures,” the duo will explore local paddling destinations including Whalebone Creek and Selden Neck, and share stories from more than three decades of field research and guidebook updates.
Alex Wilson’s series documents hundreds of lakes, ponds, estuaries and slow-moving river sections across the Northeast. Working with co-author John Hayes, they looked at wildlife, plant life and historical context such as the King Philip’s War in Rhode Island and Henry David Thoreau’s explorations of regional rivers.
The event is free and open to the public.
