Trio Animoso Brings ‘French Impressions, American Echoes’ to Chester for Essex Winter Series

The award-winning ensemble brings flute, viola and harp music to Chester following a four-day residency in local communities.

ESSEX, CT – On Sunday at 3 p.m., the award-winning Trio Animoso will perform at Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek in Chester as part of the Essex Winter Series. 

Formed at Yale, the ensemble – consisting of flutist Sophia Jean, violist Julian Seney, and harpist Subin Lee – recently won first prize at the Angel Padilla Crespo International Harp Competition. 

The program, French Impressions, American Echoes, features works by Debussy, Rameau, Ravel, Bonis and more.

The trio visited schools and senior communities across Middlesex and New London counties for a four-day residency leading up to Sunday’s performance. 

Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek is located at 55 East Kings Highway in Chester. The venue offers accessible parking, entry and seating.

The season concludes with two more Essex Winter Series performances at Valley Regional High School, 256 Kelsey Hill Road, Deep River. Grammy Award-winning male choral ensemble Chanticleer will perform Our American Journey on April 12. The rescheduled January concert, now set for Nov. 8, will feature violinist Ani Kavafian, cellist Peter Wiley, flutist Tara Helen O’Connor, and pianist Shai Wosner in Timeless Bonds and Renewed Horizons
