One Gallery, Five Acts at Lyme Art Association, Feb. 27 – April 10
The upcoming exhibition features five juried shows on themes ranging from abstract art to faces and figures. An opening reception will be held March 1.

OLD LYME, CT – The Lyme Art Association will soon bring An Exhibition in Five Acts to its historic sky-lit galleries as the museum displays the diversity of artistic styles in its talented membership.
Five Acts will run from Feb. 27 to April 10, according to a news release. An opening reception will be held Sunday, March 1 from 2 to 4 pm.
Each juried show in the exhibition looks at the world through a different lens: This Land Is Your Land, Animal Kingdom, Stillness: A Still Life, Abstracted, and Faces & Figures.
This Land Is Your Land celebrates ever-changing landscapes and their effect on identity, memory and belonging.
In Animal Kingdom, artists explore people’s relationship with animals as companions, muses, and metaphors by creating artwork that captures the complexity of the animals that share our world.
In Stillness: A Still Life, artists reimagine the timeless genre that finds meaning in the quiet arrangement of everyday objects through classical interpretation, contemporary experimentation or symbolic storytelling.
Abstraction opens a space for artists to move beyond representation by exploring form, color, line and gesture as expressions in themselves. From pure non-objectivity to works that balance the recognizable and the abstract, artworks in Abstracted push boundaries, distill ideas and experiment with visual language.
In Faces & Figures, artists explore portraiture and figurative work in all its forms – from realistic depictions to expressive interpretations. This exhibition examines how artists capture humanity, identity, and the stories written on the body and face.
The gallery is free and open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by appointment. Donations are accepted. For more information, visit www.lymeartassociation.org or call (860) 434-7802.
