Lymes’ Senior Center Artists Present ‘Golden Age’ Exhibit at Old Lyme Library, Reception Feb. 14

Senior center artists are exhibiting mixed-media work at the Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library through March, with a portion of sales supporting programs for seniors.

OLD LYME, CT – A group of local artists with longstanding ties to the Lymes’ Senior Center is showcasing its work at the Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library.

The “Golden Age” exhibit, installed along a hall to the right of the library’s main desk, features a mix of media including watercolors, acrylic and oil paintings, along with photography.

A public reception will be held from noon until the library closes at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14 in the library’s community room. Visitors are invited to meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments.

The display, curated by senior center members Jeri Baker and Fred Verillo, features work by 10 artists. Baker said the group goes back to the start of the senior center three decades ago, and has expanded in number and reach over the years to include a decade-long run of displays at the Old Lyme Town Hall.

“It’s been so nice to be able to have an opportunity to show our work,” Baker said.

The artwork is available for purchase. Baker said 10 percent of any sales will be donated to support the senior center.

The display will remain on view through the end of March.
