Lyme-Old Lyme Claims Multiple Titles at Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships
Conference titles in the 1,000 meters, 600 meters and sprint medley relay, plus a championship shot put throw, highlighted Lyme-Old Lyme’s showing at Saturday’s meet.

LYME/OLD LYME, CT – Strong individual and relay performances led the Lyme-Old Lyme High School boys indoor track and field team to a fifth-place finish and the girls to ninth place at the Shoreline Conference championships in New Haven.
Both teams produced conference champions in the 1,000 meters at Saturday’s meet. Ryan Ortoleva finished with a time of 2:41.40 for the boys, and Chase Gilbert finished with a time of 2:58.92 for the girls.

Maia Guisti came out a champion in the 600 meters with a time of 1:44.12.

Ortoleva also contributed to the boys team’s first-place finish in the sprint medley relay, which included Kev Shegirian, Rowen Meisner and Jonah Filardi and finished in 3:56.61.

Tyler Cann won the shot put with a throw of 51 feet, 10 inches.

The boys 4×400 relay team of Trevor Buydos, Shegirian, Ortoleva and Filardi came in second place.
Carson St. Louis placed third in the pole vault at 9 feet, 6 inches.
Max Paonessa, Cole Haslam, Miles Coppola and Buydos finished sixth in the 4×800 relay.

This season’s indoor track and field team despite their small numbers stood steadfast and mighty, and worked hard together to persevere! We should be so proud of their dedication and their commitment and their fidelity to each other because it’s very obvious if you were there watching this meet, their team was united and that’s what Sports is all about! congratulations to these young men and women for their commitment and their amazing athletic abilities!
