Old Lyme Tax Collector Reminds Residents of Feb. 2 Deadline
Don’t forget that the second installment of real estate and personal property taxes must be paid by Monday, Feb. 2, to avoid interest penalties.

OLD LYME, CT — Old Lyme Tax Collector Suzanne Thompson reminds town residents and property owners that the second installment of real estate and personal property taxes must be paid by Monday, Feb. 2, to avoid interest penalties.
Thompson said the town does not mail reminder notices for the second installment because tax bills sent in late June included coupons for both payments. Taxpayers who misplaced their second installment coupon may print a duplicate from a link on the tax collector’s website.
For those who pay property taxes through a mortgage lender, Thompson noted bills were sent to lenders this summer. Owners who have since paid off their mortgage are responsible for the January bill.
Payments may be mailed to the Old Lyme Tax Collector at 52 Lyme St., Old Lyme, CT 06371; paid in person at the Town Hall Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; or dropped in the Town Hall’s front door mail slot. Payments placed in the slot after 5 p.m. on Feb. 2 are delinquent and subject to interest.
For online payments, include the current bill number and property address in the memo and use the 52 Lyme St. address. The town no longer uses a PO Box; payments sent to the old PO Box will be returned, and interest penalties will apply.
Tax bills for motor vehicles registered with the state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) between Oct. 1, 2024, and Sept. 30, 2025, were due Jan. 1 and will be considered delinquent after Feb. 2.
Thompson reminds those who no longer have a vehicle registered with the DMV in Old Lyme to notify the assessor so any adjustments can be made. Information is available on the assessor’s website.
Current tax bills may be viewed online by visiting the tax collector’s website and selecting “Check Payment Status.” Searches may be conducted by name, real estate address, or bill number. Online payments are also available. Fees apply and are listed at checkout.
Timely Collections
Thompson said the town has contracted with TaxServ Capital Services, a Connecticut-based collection agency, to collect motor vehicle property taxes due to the town prior to January 2024. Taxpayers who receive a letter from TaxServ must call the company to discuss the outstanding taxes and arrange for payment. The delinquent taxes being collected by TaxServ will not be payable through the town website or at the Old Lyme Tax Office. For more information, call TaxServ at 860-724-9100 or visit www.taxserv.com.
