Old Lyme ‘Citizen of the Year’ Nominations Due Jan. 5

OLD LYME, CT —The Old Lyme Board of Selectmen reminds residents that nominations for the 2025 Citizen of the Year are due today.

A candidate for Citizen of the Year should have a positive influence in the community and a significant impact on the area’s quality of life, according to the nomination form.

The 2024 honoree was Carolyn Wakeman, a historian lauded for her extensive volunteer leadership, commitment to preserving and sharing the town’s history, and efforts to advance education, social justice, and community collaboration.

Florence Griswold Museum curator Amy Kurtz Lansing at the time noted Wakeman’s “tireless research in pursuit of hard truths has changed how she and others understand this town and its history.”
