The 2024 honoree was Carolyn Wakeman, a historian lauded for her extensive volunteer leadership, commitment to preserving and sharing the town’s history, and efforts to advance education, social justice, and community collaboration.
Florence Griswold Museum curator Amy Kurtz Lansing at the time noted Wakeman’s “tireless research in pursuit of hard truths has changed how she and others understand this town and its history.”
