Old Lyme, CT – Lyme Art Association (LAA) is ringing in the new year with two exhibits: First Impressions, its annual Associate Artists show, and Congratulations, a showcase of its newest Elected Artists.

Also opening will be The Artist’s Garden, a new show focusing on gardens as artistic inspirations. From lush florals to quiet corners and from cultivated plots to imagined landscapes, this exhibition reflects on how artists see and interpret the garden as a place of growth, reflection, and renewal.

The opening reception for the three shows will be held Sunday, Jan. 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. The exhibits run from Jan. 9 – Feb. 20.

First Impressions is 34th annual Associate Artists show highlighting the varied approaches of representational artmaking created by LAA’s membership.

Congratulations is an annual show that welcomes LAA’s newest Elected Artists, the association’s most accomplished artists in the representational artist tradition of LAA’s founders. The artists are elected by their peers after a rigorous selection and evaluation process.

This year’s new Elected Artists are Betsy Barry, Mike Laiuppa, Liane Philpotts, and Jeanne Carol Potter.
