David Ruggles and the NY Committee of Vigilance Talk

Lyme Public Library Director Melissa Fournier will discuss the New York Committee of Vigilance, the multiracial anti-slavery organization Lyme-born abolitionist David Ruggles helped establish in 1835 to combat slave-catching operations and assist people seeking freedom.

The talk is part of the library’s second annual David Ruggles Week, which includes a series of lectures, discussions and community events.
