Letter to the Editor: Lodge Endorses Lott for His Former School Board Seat
Former Region 18 Board of Education member Gavin Lodge urges Lyme voters to support Jodi Lott in the special election for his seat.
To the Editor:
I’m writing to urge Lyme voters to support Jodi Lott in the Region 18 Board of Education special election, held in person at Lyme Consolidated School on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m.
Representing Lyme on the Region 18 Board for the past three years has been an honor. I’m sorry to step down early and send you back to the polls. Life threw my family a curveball, and that curveball was a move to Old Lyme. Then again, an in-person special election is about as New England as it gets: democracy in action, on full display for our kids. Bring them along for the free civics lesson!
Jodi will be an excellent addition to the board. Her twenty years in education technology give her a clear-eyed grasp of the promise and the peril of a fast-changing landscape. Our students (and society) desperately need digital literacy, making Jodi the right person at the right time. Add her years in special education classrooms and her volunteer work with the CT Suicide Advisory Board and she is clearly ready to serve our students on day one.
She also has skin in the game: her son is in 8th grade and she has a background in arts therapy. Frankly, Lyme, you’re trading up.
Three years ago you put your faith in me. I’m asking you to put it in Jodi now. Please come to Lyme Consolidated on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. and vote.
Sincerely,
Gavin Lodge
Old Lyme (formerly, and fondly, of Lyme)
Editor’s Note: Lodge, a Democrat, resigned from the Region 18 Board of Education last month.
