Letter to the Editor: Old Saybrook RTC Chair Says Labriola Answers to Residents
The Old Saybrook Republican Town Committee chair endorses Labriola and questions Wisialowski’s record on the Board of Education.
To the Editor:
In the upcoming election, I am proud to cast my vote for Barbara Labriola for state representative. Barbara has a distinguished career in public service, having served as both town clerk and town treasurer. In her current role as Old Saybrook’s treasurer, she works collaboratively with everyone to ensure our local finances remain strong and accountable.
I am confident she will bring that same pragmatic, fiscally responsible leadership to the state House – always putting district priorities over partisan politics.
In contrast, her opponent, Jane Wisialowski, serves on a Board of Education that has faced recent public backlash. Parents are rightfully frustrated by a board that appears to dismiss their concerns, including a recent decision to restrict public comments – a move fundamentally at odds with the democratic process. Furthermore, lucrative special contracts have been awarded to outside guest speakers like Miguel Cardona, even as parents urge the board to direct every available dollar toward classroom learning. Ms. Wisialowski has failed to address these issues and is 100% aligned with the board chair. This “follow-the-leader” approach should concern every voter seeking independent leadership.
Our district deserves a representative who answers to residents, not party leaders or outside interest groups. Barbara Labriola has proven her dedication to working with everyone to deliver results. On Election Day, the choice for strong, independent representation is clear: Barbara Labriola.
Sincerely,
Paul Carver
Old Saybrook
