Lyme Registrars Set Special Session to Update Voter List, Sept. 29

LYME, CT – On Tuesday, Sept. 29, Lyme registrars of voters will hold a special session to complete the preliminary voter registry list for the Nov. 3 election.

The session will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the registrars’ office in Lyme Town Hall, 480 Hamburg Road.

In a news release, registrars said voters who have died, become disenfranchised or confirmed in writing that they have moved out of town will be removed from the active registry list during the session. Voters who did not respond within 30 days to a notice sent four years ago to confirm their residence will also be removed.

State statute specifies that registrars must post names and addresses of electors removed from the list immediately after the session. The names of people removed from the registry are not sent to the polls and may be restored on Election Day only if both registrars are contacted and agree to approve the applicant’s request to be put back on the books.
