Letter to the Editor: Berke Brings Business Experience to Region 18 BOE

To the Editor:

I am writing in support of Devin Berke for the vacant seat on the Lyme-Old Lyme Region 18 Board of Education (BOE).

I have worked with Devin to improve our community. He listens carefully to taxpayer concerns and I have seen him demonstrate sound, balanced judgment time and again. 

The Region 18 BOE oversees and makes critical cost decisions on the $41,447,995 Region 18 Education Budget. 

Taxpayers have expressed their desire for our Region 18 BOE members to broaden their skills with someone outside of the educational field who has business, financial and accounting experience, and construction knowledge. 

Devin Berke, the father of a child in our school system, has gained these skills from his successful performance in the business world and will provide them to the BOE. He will carefully evaluate budget requests and approve cost-worthy expenditures to protect our tax-dollar investments in Lyme-Old Lyme education.
