OLD LYME, CT – Lyme Art Association’s annual Paint the Town: Plein Air Painting from Dawn to Dusk returns Saturday, Aug. 29, as an opportunity for member artists to paint outdoors throughout Old Lyme, Lyme and East Lyme before bringing their freshly completed works to the gallery for an art sale and reception.

The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 30.

The reception, from 5 to 7 p.m., will include an exhibit of the artists’ work, hors d’oeuvres and live music by the John Brown BackPorch Trio. All art is available for purchase.

The fee for participating LAA member artists is $30, which includes one guest at the reception. Public admission to the show is $10 per person.

Online registration is available.

Fall for Art

On Saturday, Sept. 26, from 3 to 4 p.m., author, educator and Screen Actors Guild actor Ted Zalewski will perform Van Gogh: A Portrait by The Postman Roulin. The one-man play features Vincent van Gogh’s loyal friend, postman Joseph Roulin. Drawing on research into Van Gogh’s art, life and letters, the performance explores the artist’s journey from Holland to the south of France and his enduring friendship with Roulin. Tickets are $10 per person.

Other fall highlights include the New England Landscape and Bon Appetit exhibitions, on view Sept. 18 through Nov. 6; the Palate to Palette arts fundraiser and art auction on Oct. 15; and Pumpkin Day on Oct. 24.

Fall art classes and workshops for adults of all skill levels begin the week of Sept. 8, with in-person and online offerings focused on painting and drawing figures, still lifes, landscapes and more. Class schedules and prices vary.
