From Gala in the Gallery to Pickleball, Lyme Art Association Showcases a Season of Events

Lyme Art Association announces spring events including its annual gala, call for exhibition submissions and inaugural pickleball fundraiser.

OLD LYME, CT – Headlining the spring season for the Lyme Art Association (LAA) is an annual gala bringing together artists, collectors and friends of the arts at the cultural destination that has been drawing visitors for more than a century. 

The Spring Soiree will take place Saturday, May 16, at LAA’s historic Old Lyme gallery, 90 Lyme St. Guests will enjoy live jazz by the Steve Donovan Trio, catering by Gourmet Galley, a silent auction and a raffle. 

The silent auction will feature Spring Forays, a luminous still life by acclaimed LAA artist Kelli Folsom. Folsom, a frequent award-winner at the Lyme Art Association, is known for expressive brushwork and vibrant colors capturing the natural world.

The Spring Soiree Experience Raffle includes a selection of art-inspired getaway packages to destinations including the Berkshires, the Hudson Valley, New York City, coastal Rhode Island and the Connecticut shoreline, with offerings including museum access, cultural experiences and stays at properties such as The Porches Inn, The Wick Hotel, Moxy Lower East Side and 41° North. Raffle tickets will be available for $20 each.

Tickets are $85, with sponsorship opportunities ranging from $250 to $5,000. Proceeds support LAA exhibitions, education and preservation efforts.

Call for Art

LAA is now accepting submissions for A Connecticut History, an exhibition on view June 5 to July 17 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. 

Artists are invited to explore Connecticut’s identity through landscapes, portraits, still life, sculpture and conceptual interpretations of the state’s people, places and history. Submissions are open to members and non-members.

Entrants may apply online. The deadline is May 8. 

Pickleball Tournament

The inaugural Swing for Art pickleball fundraiser will be held Sunday, June 7, at Mystic Indoor Sports with organized match play across skill levels and raffles. 

Entry is $50 per player. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit LAA’s exhibitions, educational programming and maintenance of its historic gallery. 

Registration is currently open, with limited space available.
