Artist Vincent Desiderio to Speak at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, April 17
The acclaimed artist will deliver a free public lecture discussing his work, art history and contemporary art culture.

OLD LYME, CT – On Friday, April 17 at 5 p.m., Lyme Academy of Fine Arts will host a guest lecture by artist Vincent Desiderio in its Wilson-Riley Library, 84 Lyme Street.
The event is free and open to the public.
Desiderio will discuss his artistic practice and his decision to “break from traditional paradigms in order to help set the stage for a new approach to the understanding of painting,” according to a Lyme Academy news release. The lecture will include reflections on art history and contemporary culture.
A graduate of Haverford College, Desiderio also studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He currently serves as a senior critic at the New York Academy of Art and has held visiting faculty positions at institutions worldwide, including a three-year appointment at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in China under the country’s “Thousand Talent Program.”
His work is held in major museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Hirshhorn Museum, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, among others.
