Lyme Academy of Fine Arts will present Terra Anima, a terracotta sculpture exhibition of student work, March 28–29.

The exhibition will be held in the academy’s historic Sill House and is expected to become an annual tradition and a traveling showcase.

Rooted in Italian Renaissance traditions, the sculptures evoke the legacy of Michelangelo, Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, Antonio Canova, Gian Lorenzo Bernini and other classic artists, while reflecting contemporary personal experience. Preparatory sketches and finished clay sculptures will demonstrate the terracotta process from first gesture to resolved form. Works include creative compositions as well as studies from life.

Terra Anima will be on view Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Sill House Gallery, 84 Lyme St., with select artworks available for purchase. Click here to learn more.
