Chase Gilbert Sets Meet Record, Leads Lyme-Old Lyme at Class S Indoor Track & Field Championships

Senior standout Chase Gilbert won two events and set a meet record in the 1,000 meters at Saturday’s event.

LYME/OLD LYME, CT – Senior Chase Gilbert won two events and set a meet record as the Lyme-Old Lyme Wildcats competed Saturday at the CIAC Class S Indoor Track and Field Championship in New Haven.

Gilbert finished first in both the 1,000-meter and 1,600-meter races. She set a meet and school record in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:50.29.

Senior Ryan Ortoleva added a third-place finish in the 1,000 meters. Senior Tyler Cann placed fourth in the shot put.

Chase carried the girls team to a fourth-place finish overall. The boys team came in 14th.

Gilbert, Ortoleva and Cann will compete at the CIAC State Open Indoor Track and Field Championships in New Haven on Saturday.
