OLD LYME—Musical Masterworks has announced its 34th Season at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme. Their opening concert weekend of Oct. 12 and 13, features violinist Tessa Lark in her third year as Artistic Director.
This year’s season opener circles back to the operatic seeds of Musical Masterworks, featuring popular arias and two of the most talented young vocalists of today—soprano Marquita Richardson and mezzo-soprano Sarah Saturnino.
After his rousing MMModern performance in March 2024, bassist and tenor Nathan Farrington makes his mainstage debut alongside Richardson, Saturnino, Artistic Director Tessa Lark and pianist-composer Roman Rabinovich. They will present operatic selections and newer favorites that Farrington has arranged especially for this series.
Lark explains, “This year I wanted to pay homage to how this wonderful organization began. Alden Murphy, our beloved board president, and her husband, Jamie, called on their musical circle of friends, including John Hargraves and David Dangremond, to create a full-scale production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera, The Mikado.”
Lark notes, It was a resounding success, and it was clear that Old Lyme wanted more.”
Musical Masterworks 34th season runs from October 2024 throught April 2025 at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme at 4 Lyme St. in Old Lyme.
