Go Forth and Vote! It’s Election Day Today

Old Lyme First Selectwoman Bonnie Reemsnyder checks her phone at the Democrat tent in front of the Polling Station at the Cross Lane Firehouse.

LYME/OLD LYME —Lyme and Old Lyme voters go to the polls Tuesday to elect a variety of town government positions, including the position of First Selectman in Old Lyme, where  Republican Tim Griswold is challenging incumbent Democrat Bonnie Reemsnyder. Up in Lyme, Steve Mattson and John Kiker are running unopposed as Democrats for the board of selectmen along with Parker Lord as a Republican.

Incidentally, it’s Fireworks (or Guy Fawkes) Night in England today, which seems quite appropriate for the general tone of the Old Lyme election!

We have published all the Letters to the Editor that we had received by midnight Sunday in our Letters section.  To assist our readers, we have re-published the responses we received from the Old Lyme Board of Selectmen and the Region 18 Board of Education candidates on our home page.

We have also published/re-published two Op-Eds on our home page, which represent opposing points of view.

Polling stations open at 6 a.m. today and close at 8 p.m.  Lyme residents cast their votes at the Lyme Town Hall while Old Lyme residents should go to the Cross Lane Firehouse to vote.

We will publish the results here on LymeLine.com shortly after their announcement.
