Dr. Kara Cowell Gagnon, founder and President of Peace of Mind and a physician previously employed by the VA Hospital in West Haven for 18 years, will address the Lyme-Old Lyme Chamber of Commerce at a brunch on Saturday, June 7 at 9 a.m. at Healthy Addiction, 5-1 Davis Road E, Old Lyme. The brunch will be catered by The Arc of New London.

Dr. Gagnon will discuss her fascinating work with Peace of Mind, the organization she founded, which is dedicated to helping brain-injured veterans, civilians and their families.
Gagnon explains, “Over 300,000 of our returning veterans have suffered traumatic brain injury since 2002 as either an isolated injury or along with other injuries. Soldiers who sustain a brain injury land somewhere on a continuum of minimal to multiple medical, mental, cognitive, emotional, and quality of life challenges and needs. The Mentoring Corps for Community Development (MCCD) of Old Lyme has taken on Peace of Mind as a client and MCCD will help with the development and implementation of financing, organization, logistical and development strategies of this 501(c)3 organization.
