Some Thoughts on the Sewer Situation
Things are not always as they seem.  There are people in the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in Hartford who might be expected to outlaw the use of steel drums that rust out or cesspools in close proximity to water supplies or steel septic tanks that leak. These people might be expected to outlaw these environmental insults – but they don’t.  They don’t. Read More ...

Open Discussion Needed of HS Renovation Plan Financial Impact
The decision by the chairman of the Old Lyme Board of Finance not to engage the full board in an open discussion of the financial impact to the taxpayers of the proposed District 18 high school renovation project is wrong.  His reasoning that the town has no legal jurisdiction in school district financial matters is shortsighted. Read More ...

Proposed OL Zoning Change Good for Developer, Disastrous for Town
We are coming to a new era in Old Lyme.  The Zoning Commission is having a Special Meeting today, Monday, Sept. 22, to consider changing Section 12 of the OL Zoning Regulations.  You may be saying, "So what?"  If this section is changed in the manner the developer, Short Hills, LLC, wishes, the landscape of Old Lyme will be changed forever.  Read More ...
